Well, it looks like we are finally getting towards the end of another long winter and another heating season. For the most part it wasn't the worst winter as far as cold but we did have plenty of snow so that made delivering propane a little tougher. Thanks to everyone who kept a path open to their tanks. The drivers really appreciated it. They've had a long season starting with summer fill in August and then crop drying and the heating been staying on the high side mainly because of tight supplies after a lot of propane was used for crop drying last fall. Hopefully prices will come back down so we can get a decent price for contracting for the next heating season. I really hate to think about that already.
We are also keeping an eye on the futures market for diesel fuel to try and lock in a good price for this spring's planting season. So far the futures price has been considerably higher than the current price so we'll continue to watch it and hopefully get a chance to lock in a lower price. Last year it worked out really well as prices climbed quite a bit thru the season.
On the agronomy side it looks like crop input costs should be down considerably this year compared to last year. Fertilizer costs are down substantially and the glyphosate market is less than half of what it was last year so this will help. Seed supplies of both corn and soybeans are getting really tight so if you're looking for seed yet stop in and talk to Steve and he'll let you know what is still available. We also have a good selection of small grain seeds available in both bags and bulk so check with us when you decide what you need. Thank you for your business during the past year and we look forward to serving you in the future. THINK SPRING!
